Inside the Making of 'Berger for Board'

Jason Berger explains why he decided to run for a seat on the Edina School Board.

Thank you to Editor-in-Chief Ryan Gauthier for inviting me to blog on my run for the school board.

I am in the process of meeting with current board members, parents, teachers and administrators and would like to contribute my thoughts on these meetings, as it might help others to understand the current issues. Don't worry, I'll do my best to keep these positive, and if there is anything that might be embarassing for someone, I'll create a fun psuedonym or something.

So far, I've been very impressed with those I've spoken to. There is a reason this is a top-ranked district.

Obviously, a campaign seeking radical changes would be unwarranted. Rather, I see my role as simply representing other involved parents and helping to guide the school through what may be difficult financial times ahead.

I explain to voters that I'm running because my wife and I feel we owe it to the district to get involved. We've been quite pleased with the services our daughter has received through the special ed program and have gotten to know some outstanding teachers and paraprofessionals.
