Edina High School Thespians Winter One-Act Play: The Jar Jan 29 @ 7pm & Jan 30 @ 1pm /Edina Performing Arts Center
Edina High School Thespians perform a competitive one-act play, "The Jar," at Edina Performing Arts Center, this weekend
In The Jar, Don Lollo, a wealthy landowner, has produced such a prodigious olive crop that he orders an immense container for the oil. “The jar,” a terracotta jug that is as big as a man, becomes Don Lollo’s proudest possession. It stands in the middle of his courtyard until, one night, a shadow passes briefly over the face of the moon. When the shadow is gone, the jar is split in two. The story tells what happens when Don Lollo’s glowering Uncle Dima, comes to fix the jug, and in the process seals himself up inside.
Former EHS Thespian, and current professional actor, Joh Riedlinger, returns to direct The Jar, and is direction of the successful winter show of 2015, The Odd Couple. This show will be the Edina High School entry into the MN State High School League One-Act Play Competition. Additionally, Edina High School will be hosting the region finals in Edina Performing Arts Center, on Saturday, Feb 6, 2016, where up to seven schools will perform their 35-minute one-act plays before audience members and a panel of judges.
