Kidney Disease

Kidney disease can lead to blindness... read on to find out more.

Kidney failure is one of the most common diseases we see in older cats. One serious consequence of kidney failure is the potential to develop hypertension (high blood pressure).

Cats with high blood pressure are prone to blindness due to detachment of their retinas in the back of their eyes. If caught quickly, however, cats may regain their sight if their blood pressure returns to normal.

If you are concerned your cat is blind, seeing your veterinarian as soon as possible is advised.
