Fourth of July Festivities Around Inver Grove Heights

Get your fireworks fix and celebrate Independence Day at nearby city events.

There may not be an official Fourth of July Celebration in Inver Grove Heights, but here are some ideas for enjoyable festivities and fireworks displays nearby that are sure to draw some “oohs” and “aahs.”

 

Mendota Heights

  • When and Where? Beginning at 10 p.m., fireworks will be launched from the Mendakota Country Club, 2075 Mendakota Drive.
  • Why Go? The city of Mendota Heights is continuing its annual tradition of partnering with the Mendakota Country Club to sponsor a great fireworks display for the community. The fireworks show will be visible from many locations in the city including: Mendakota Park, Rogers Lake Park, Mendota Plaza Shopping Center, The Village of Mendota Heights, City Hall and Henry Sibley High School. Or, if you want to get close to the action, find a spot around the club. 
  • Price: Free

Woodbury

  • When and Where? Entertainment starts at 7 p.m. and fireworks start at 10 p.m. The event is at Ojibway Park, 2695 Ojibway Drive (adjacent to Woodbury High School; parking available in the school lot off Woodlane Drive).
  • Why Go?  Bring a blanket or lawn chair to this annual night of celebration, which begins with live music by Darlene and the Boys, a five-piece classic country/variety band. The event concludes with the traditional fantastic fireworks display. In between, enjoy Rocco’s Pizza, Maui Wowi Hawaiian Smoothies, Mik Mart Ice Cream, TJ Mini Donuts, and other treats such as nachos, chicken strips, fries and cotton candy. Eagan Funfest

  • When and Where? Fireworks start at 10 p.m.
  • Why Go?  The spectacular fireworks display is the largest in the area and concludes a three-day celebration of exciting carnival rides, live concert entertainment, family-friendly events, food and more.
  • Price: Admission and parking are free. You can purchase early-bird discounted carnival tickets online at www.eaganfunfest.org.

Downtown St. Paul

  • When and Where? Fireworks start at approximately 10:15 p.m. at Upper Landing Park (along Shepard Road, behind the Science Museum).
  • Why Go?  Although there’s no Taste of Minnesota event this year, the Fourth of July fireworks are set to go off in downtown St. Paul. The city encourages residents and visitors alike to arrive early and stay late for the annual display and take advantage of Fourth of July specials at downtown bars and restaurants.
  • Price: Free

 

Cottage Grove

  • When and Where? Celebrations begin at 6 p.m., but the fireworks don't start until 10 p.m. at Kingston Park, 9195 75th Street South. 
  • Why Go?  Hosted by the Cottage Grove Lions Club, the festivities will start with a family-style picnic, games, and plenty of food including Cold Stone ice cream, candy, hot dogs, brats, and beverages. Fireworks will go off around 10 p.m. For more info, call Pat at 651-208-5144.
