2 Twin Cities Men Federally Charged In Online Romance Scheme
The two men targeted elderly people seeking a romantic relationship, investigators said.
MINNEAPOLIS — Two men were charged by a federal grand jury in an online romance fraud scheme, U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger last week.
Solomon E. Wilfred, 42, of Coon Rapids, and Dodzi Kwame Kordorwu, 36, of Brooklyn Park facilitated the schemes to aquire money, according to authorities.
Wilfred faces seven counts of mail fraud. Kordorwu faces eight counts of mail fraud in a separate indictment.

Wilfred and Kordorwu used fake personas to contact potential victims via email and social media, according to authorities. They targeted elderly people seeking a romantic relationship, investigators said.
When a relationship was established, they made increasingly large requests for money over time, according to authorities.

Wilfred and Kordorwu used various addresses and bank accounts to receive funds that were sent by victims under false pretenses, investigators said.
Between May 2018 and June 2022, Kordorwu received more than $2.3 million in fraud proceeds from electronic fund transfers and approximately 90 separate victim mailings, authorities said.
Between June 2020 and March 2021, Wilfred received $1.2 million in fraud proceeds, according to investigators.
