Crash Kills Teen Girl On Snowy Northern MN Road

The head-on crash killed one teen and injured three other people, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

ARROWHEAD TOWNSHIP, MN — A teen was killed and three other people were injured in a crash on a snowy and icy St. Louis County road Saturday. Just before 6:20 a.m., the driver of a Ford Focus was heading westbound on Highway 2 and crossed over the centerline, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The Ford then struck a Prius traveling eastbound head-on, police said.

Ford passenger Emma Faith Abernathey, 17, of Proctor was killed in the crash. The driver of the Ford, Logan Dawson Hink, also 17, suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to authorities.

The two people in the Prius, including a 14-year-old passenger, also suffered non-life threatening injuries and were treated at St. Mary's Hospital.

Abernathey loved art, music and animals, according to her obituary. A service for her will be held at 5 p.m. at Bell Brothers Funeral Home in Duluth on Thursday.
