Driver In Fatal Blaine Crash May Have Been Drunk: Police

A 52-year-old pedestrian was killed early Friday morning.

BLAINE, MN — Blaine police say the driver in a crash that killed a 52-year-old pedestrian early Friday may have been drunk. At about 6 a.m., officers were called to the area of Naples Street NE and Lake Drive NE for a car crash.

The pedestrian, a woman from Blaine, was found unresponsive. Lifesaving efforts were started by arriving officers and paramedics at the scene.

She was eventually transported to Hennepin Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead, according to a news release.

Authorities believe driver of the vehicle in the crash was possibly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He has been taken into custody and will eventually be booked into the Anoka County Jail for probable cause criminal vehicular homicide, police said.
