The Minnesota Department of Human Services has suspended the license of the daycare following the child's death.
CROW WING COUNTY, MN — The Minnesota Department of Human Services has suspended the license of a daycare in Brainerd after a 9-month-old infant, who authorities say suffered a "serious injury" while in the provider's care, later died.
On Nov. 12 around 2 p.m., the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office received a call about a baby who was unresponsive at the Brainerd daycare. The daycare is located at the home of Mindy Koering, the license holder.
The infant was transported to Essentia ER, where he was pronounced dead. Police did not say how the baby was injured. The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Investigation unit, along with Crow wing County Social Services and the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office, are currently investigating the case.
