Minnesota Mom 'Intentionally' Drove Over Drunk Son: Police
Investigators said the son has a severe alcohol addiction and "was no longer wanted" in the mother's home.
OLMSTED COUNTY, MN — Authorities say they expect assault charges will be filed after a mom intentionally drove over her intoxicated son. On March 18 at about 5 p.m., Olmsted County deputies responded to a home in Salem Township on a report of an assault.
Officers found a 37-year-old man with significant lower body injuries.
According to police, Cynthia Grund, 58, used a 2004 Ford Explorer to run over the man identified as her son. Investigators said Grund's son has a severe alcohol addiction and "was no longer wanted" in her home.

The man was highly intoxicated when he began to walk down the rural driveway. Grund wanted to drive him to a friend's house.
The son refused to get into the car after Grund asked several times. He made a statement to the effect of "why don't you just run me over," according to police.

The man then laid down in the driveway in front of Grund's vehicle. Grund then backed the vehicle up and ran intentionally ran him over, investigators said.
According to police, Grund admitted to her actions and at one point made a comment to the effect, "He didn't believe I would. He has been drinking all day. We gave him a chance."
Grund was taken into custody at the scene and is facing the potential of several felony-level charges, according to a news release.
The man was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester where he underwent surgery for significant pelvic injuries. His current medical status in not known at this time.
The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office will not be releasing the name of the victim.
