Mules Go Loose In Central Minnesota, Authorities Seek Owner

Are you missing a pair of mules? If so, contact the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.

UPDATE, 1:20 p.m. — Authorities say they have identified the owner of the mules. The owner has made arrangements to get the mules home safely.


STEARNS COUNTY, MN — Authorities in central Minnesota are looking for the owners of several mules who got loose and ended up in a man's pasture. On Thursday just before 8:20 a.m. the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office received an animal complaint out of Crow Lake Township.

Property owner Dean Suter, 72, of Belgrade noticed two mules along the roadway near his pasture. Suter’s horses were along the same fence line inside the pasture near the mules.

Suter was able to get the two mules into a paddock near his barn where he gave them grain, hay and water. He is unsure where the mules came from as he is not aware of anyone in the area who owns mules.

The mules are both female, one black and the other bay in color, according to a news release. They are approximately 14.5 hands tall. Officials have not taken any reports of stolen or missing mules in recent days.
