Runaway Utah Teen 'Critical' After Minnesota Crash Killing 2
Utah public safety officials reported 15-year-old Kate Seegmiller missing Jan. 23.

WAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, MN — Two people were killed and two others were injured in a two-car crash in Stearns County Wednesday. Among the injured was Katie Seegmiller, 15, who was listed as a runaway teen from Utah. She is currently in critical condition.
The two people killed in the crash — traveling in the same car as Seegmiller — were also from Utah.
Utah public safety officials reported Seegmiller missing Jan. 23 and believed she was possibly headed to South Dakota, St. George News reported.

On Wednesday at about 8 a.m., the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-car crash near County Road 2 and Island Lake Road north of Cold Spring in Wakefield Township.
The initial investigation showed a 2008 Mitsubishi Gallant was traveling southbound on County Road 2 when the driver lost control and slid sideways into the northbound lanes.

This Mitsubishi was occupied by Cody Randall, age 30; JD Randall, age 24; and Seegmiller; all from Washington City, Utah.
When the car drifted into northbound traffic it was struck by a 2002 Buick Lesbre driven by 64-year old Sandra Hansen of Cold Spring, Minnesota.
The crash sent the Mitsubishi into the a ditch where it rolled. Cody and JD Randall were ejected from the car. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Seegmiller was trapped in the car and had to be extricated by fire crews. She was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition.
Sandra Hansen was also extricated from her car and transported to the St. Cloud Hospital. She is listed in stable condition.
The crash caused the road to be closed for several hours. The collision is still under investigation.
