'Unknown' If Alcohol Involved In Double Fatal Head-On Crash: Patrol
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating after a head-on crash in the north Twin Cities metro killed two women.

ANOKA COUNTY, MN — Two people died Monday night in a head-on crash that took place in Fridley. The collision happened on Interstate 694 near University Avenue, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash killed Julian Evan Griffin, 46, of Brooklyn Center and Mary Louise Ruegesegger, 78, of Mounds View, investigators said.
Police said it is currently "unknown" if Griffin was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

At about 9:50 p.m. on Monday, Fridley police, fire, and EMS crews responded to the scene of the crash.
Investigators said that Griffin was traveling westbound on I-694 in the eastbound lane of traffic when she crashed head-on into an oncoming SUV.

Ruegesegger was driving the SUV in the correct lane of traffic, and was not under the influence of alcohol, according to authorities.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, investigators said.
First responders tried to revive Griffin and Ruegesegger, but they were both declared dead at the scene.
The Fridley Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office, and Anoka County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the crash.
