Joseph Hernandez Died From Cold, Meth Overdose: Sheriff
Authorities concluded that a missing man whose body was found in Mendota Heights died from exposure to cold and methamphetamine toxicity.

Authorities have concluded an investigating into the circumstances surrounding a missing Minnesota man whose body was found in Mendota Heights on Thanksgiving. Results of the investigation by detectives and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office has led to the probable conclusion that Joseph Michael Hernandez, 35, died from exposure to the cold and rainy weather, and that acute methamphetamine toxicity was also a factor in his death.
Hernandez was last seen at a Mendota Heights motel on Nov. 11, 2016, and since that time, investigators have worked with his family to attempt to locate him.
It was learned Hernandez left the motel on foot after arguing with a friend. The focus of the investigation changed when his body was recovered on Nov. 24 in a Mendota Heights nature preserve, about three miles from where he was last seen, according to a news release.
