Ex-Candidate Matt Birk Cracks Joke Comparing Himself To Jesus Christ

Former Minnesota Viking Matt Birk quickly returned to pre-campaign form on Twitter following a disappointing Election Day.

MINNESOTA — Former NFL center Matt Birk quickly returned to his pre-campaign form on Twitter following his failed bid to become Minnesota's next lieutenant governor.

On Election Day, Democratic Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan handily defeated the Republican ticket that included Scott Jensen and Birk.

On Friday, Birk — who heads a Catholic school in Burnsville — used the crucifixion of Jesus Christ in a joke about his disappointing election result.

Birk, a former member of the Minnesota Vikings and a Baltimore Raven Super Bowl champion, is well known for his aggressive, sarcastic personality on social media.

He dialed down his typically boisterous Twitter presence in the final two months of his campaign.
