Minneapolis Man Convicted In Jan. 6 Capitol Riot
Federal authorities used Brian Christopher Mock's own Facebook posts and uploads from the insurrection in the case against him.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A Minneapolis man was found guilty for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. He is set to be sentenced on Oct. 10.
Instead of a jury trial, Brian Christopher Mock opted for a bench trial and represented himself, The Star Tribune reported.
Chief Judge James E. Boasberg found Mock guilty of all 11 charges filed against him, including assaulting an officer, theft of government property, and engaging in physical violence on restricted grounds.

Authorities said Mock was seen on body camera footage shoving a U.S. Capitol police officer to the ground while another rioter grabbed the officer's leg. Mock "then appeared to kick" the officer while he was laying on the ground, investigators said.
Other rioters continued to assault the officer, according to authorities.

Later, Mock was recorded pushing another officer to the ground, investigators said. Mock then "picked up multiple USCP riot shields and passed them back to other members of the violent riot crowd," according to authorities.
In the days after the riots, the FBI said it received several tips about Mock's role in the U.S. Capitol violence.
According to the FBI, one tipster said Mock "went to DC specifically for this. He is home bragging about beating up cops and destroying property in the capital. His name is Brian Christopher Mock."
Another witness said Mock bragged that he "beat the s***" out of an officer, according to the FBI.
Federal authorities also used Mock's own Facebook posts and uploads in the case against him.
