MINNESOTA — Tuesday's snowstorm dropped more than 8 inches of snow on Minnesota roads and highways, wreaking havoc on both morning and evening commuters.

The timing of the snow created a perfect storm, leading to hundreds of collisions and spinouts across the state.

On Tuesday between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m., the Minnesota State Patrol responded to 387 crashes, 285 spin-outs, plus 33 different jackknifed semis.

There were 38 injuries reported, but no deaths.

People are cautioned to not drive during winter weather warnings. However, if you need to travel, the National Weather Service recommends keeping an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Looking ahead, there are no significant snowstorms in the current forecast. Friday will feature warmer weather in Minnesota before a cold front arrives.

Low temperatures will hit the single digits at the start of next week.

"Gusty south winds will bring milder air north today," the National Weather Service said.

"Some patchy blowing snow is possible. A cold front will push through Friday and a period of snow will follow Friday evening. Light accumulations are likely. Strong winds will follow with gusts of 40-50 mph and some more blowing snow through early Saturday morning."
