MN Timberwolves Guard Anthony Edwards Cited For 3rd-Degree Assault

DENVER, CO — Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards was cited for third-degree assault in Denver after police said he swung a folding chair that struck two female workers.

The incident happened seconds after the final buzzer of Tuesday night's playoff game as Edwards ran to the locker room. The moment in question was recorded by a fan.

Edwards' initial court hearing is scheduled for June 9 in Denver, ESPN reported. If convicted, Edwards faces possible jail time and a $1,000 fine.

"We are aware of the alleged incident regarding Anthony Edwards following Game 5 in Denver and are in the process of gathering more information," the Timberwolves said in a statement Wednesday night. "We have no further comment at this moment."

The Denver Nuggets eliminated Minnesota from the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday.
