Interim Chief Bill Peterson and Mayor Jacob Frey said officers were pre-positioned for safety, several officers were injured, and multiple people now face riot, assault, and disorderly conduct-related charges.

Minneapolis car break-ins: Police investigate 87 smashed windows across 9 neighborhoods (fox9.com) — Minneapolis police are investigating at least 87 car break-ins across nine neighborhoods, including 37 vehicles hit on a single block of 1st Avenue South. With no arrests yet, officers are asking residents to share any surveillance footage, while victims like a recent transplant describe mounting repair costs and second thoughts about moving to the city.
   

3. 11 Arrested Following Confrontation Outside Minneapolis City Hall (limitless-news.com) — Minneapolis police arrested 11 people after a confrontation between opposing groups during a planned demonstration outside City Hall, where three officers were injured and chemical irritant was used. Vehicles allegedly drove onto the sidewalk toward a crowd, multiple agencies helped stop them, and several suspects were booked on probable cause riot as investigators review video for possible additional charges.
   

4. Sprout company recalls products linked to 15-state outbreak (foodsafetynews.com) — A Minneapolis-based company, Everything Sprouts LLC, is recalling several alfalfa sprout products tied to a 15-state E. coli and Salmonella outbreak, with distribution to Minnesota and Wisconsin stores through Aug. 21. Local shoppers are urged to throw away affected lots, sanitize containers and surfaces, and seek medical care if they develop symptoms of infection after eating the sprouts.
   

5. Wenona Ramirez's GoFundMe Profile (gofundme.com) — A patient preparing for heart surgery in Minneapolis is asking for help covering living costs, medical bills, and frequent travel to and from the city during recovery, when working won't be possible. The fundraiser aims to ease financial stress so she can focus on healing, and she invites support through donations or by sharing her story with others.
