Snow Emergency Declared In Minneapolis: Here’s Where You Can’t Park
The city of Minneapolis has declared a snow emergency, effective Wednesday, March 5 at 9:30 a.m.
MINNEAPOLIS — The city of Minneapolis has declared a snow emergency, effective Wednesday, March 5 at 9:30 a.m., after a major winter storm dumped about 8 inches of snow across the Twin Cities metro area.
Snow emergency parking restrictions will begin at 9 p.m. Wednesday night to allow crews to clear more than 1,000 miles of streets.
To ensure safe and drivable streets, Minneapolis residents must follow a three-day parking schedule:

- Day 1 (March 5, 9 p.m. – March 6, 8 a.m.) – No parking on either side of snow emergency routes until plowed.
- Day 2 (March 6, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.) – No parking on the even-numbered side of non-snow emergency routes and on either side of parkways until plowed.
- Day 3 (March 7, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.) – No parking on the odd-numbered side of non-snow emergency routes until plowed.
Following these rules helps keep streets clear for emergency vehicles and prevents tickets or towing.
