Richfield 'Drive-By' Shooting: Police Seek Bicyclists' Help

Police are seeking the help of bicyclists who may have been in the area at the time of a fatal "drive-by" shooting in Richfield last month.

RICHFIELD, MN — Police are seeking the help of bicyclists who might have been in the area at the time of a fatal shooting in Richfield last month.

On July 3 at 11:21 p.m., Richfield police responded to the area of 64th street and 4th Avenue on a complaint of an individual who was shot. Upon arrival, officers located 24-year-old Jonathan Michael O’Shaughnessy lying in the street. O’Shaughnessy sustained two gunshot wounds, according to police.

Despite life-saving measures taken by first responders, Jonathan O’Shaughnessy was pronounced dead at the scene. Police later said O’Shaughnessy was killed in a "drive-by" style shooting.

The Richfield Police Department said Tuesday it continues to investigate this incident and is following up on all leads. Currently, the Richfield Police Department is seeking the assistance of male and female bicyclists who were in the area at the time of the incident and may have witnessed the shooting.

Crime Stoppers of Minnesota, in partnership with a private donation, is offering an increased reward of up to $4500 dollars for information in the shooting, the Richfield Police Department announced Tuesday. The previous reward was $1,000.

Authorities said these individuals are encouraged to come forward with any information they have regarding the incident.
