Cook or Garden For Those Living With Illness

Volunteers are needed at the Open Arms of Minnesota garden in Belle Plaine.

For over 25 years, one organization has been helping individuals in Minnesota living with illness by providing meals. Open Arms of Minnesota is the only non-profit in the state that cooks and delivers free meals for people with illnesses such as HIV/AIDS, ALS, cancer, and MS as well as their caregivers and dependent children. About 700 meals are cooked, packed and delivered each week by about 1900 volunteers. Chefs and dieticians work together to create delicious menus that provide meals that meet the needs of the diseases the clients live with.

Volunteer opportunities exist for preparing, cooking, and delivering the meals.  In addition, Open Arms of Minnesota has a garden in Belle Plaine where they grow organic produce to use in the meals. Volunteers are needed for planting and harvesting from the garden.
