First Father's Day in Minnesota

Setting Goals for Father's Day!

Yesterday marked my 23rd Father's Day! For the last six years, I have celebrated with three children. To say that I feel blessed would be an understatement. But this Father's Day was also my first in Minnesota!

I moved my family to MN in August of 2011. After 42 years, not counting my time away from home while serving in the Marine Corps, moving away from California was a huge change.

There are many differences between the two states. Of course there are the obvious differences in the weather, the terrain, and the food! Yes, I miss Mexican food, especially from the little hole-in-the-wall places in Los Angeles (that only take cash)!

But the biggest change for me is the deeper sense of community - of family. It's not that it does not exist in CA, but it is just different here. It is one of the best changes that I have ever experienced in my life.

On Father's Day, I not only spent the day with my family, but I was able to get together with other dads - great dads, amazing men who I am very fortunate to call my friends.

In addition to moving my family here, I also moved my business. When I first launched my company, Think GREAT (www.ThinkGreat90.com) , all I wanted to do was to help people to accomplish their goals. I love accomplishing goals. I love the feeling it gives me - the feeling of being complete. I even like the feeling that I get from setting goals.

The best part about goal-setting is that you start to feel better as soon as you work toward a goal. Good feelings do not happen just because you accomplish the goal, they happen as you pursue the goal.

I want to encourage all of the fathers out there to set a few new goals today; set goals that will not only change your life, but will impact the lives of those you care most - your family.

There are 364 days until next Father's Day - make them count!

Turn your goals into realities!

Think GREAT,

Erik
