Help Keep Minnesota Green
Great River Greening has been serving Minnesota since 1995.

Minnesota is a beautiful state. We have prairies, forests, lakes, rivers, and streams throughout the area and one organization has been helping Minnesota preserve its natural beauty. Great River Greening’s mission is to lead and inspire community-based restoration of prairies, forests, and freshwaters. In 2011, 2,070 volunteers including 626 youth, removed 511 acres of invasive species, planted 28,400 trees and shrubs and installed 4,700 flowering plants and grasses throughout the state.
The organization also has a Science Area Teen Network gets youth involved in topics related to environmental science, the economic value of biodiversity, leadership and community service, and career development skills. This involvement includes classroom discussions, experiential learning and discussions with community mentors. These mentors help the young people in the program understand and see how leadership skills developed as teens can be used in future careers.
