According to Oxford Dictionaries one of hubbub’s meanings is: “a busy, noisy situation.” Many of us have heard someone say: “What is all the hubbub about?” One entry of Merriam-Webster describes hubbub as: “confusion, turmoil.”
My daily life is filled with hubbub, from the inside out. The human condition is one of busyness, noise, confusion, and turmoil. We are constantly trying to pick up the pieces of our broken lives. Although we have a semblance of order in our lives, the hubbub is constantly
there. We ask: ‘What’s next to take care of?’ Most of our minds are constantly running. There is no rest for the wicked, literally. We are wicked without God.
The opposite of wicked is good and that is what we are when we are walking with Him. Without Him we can literally do nothing good. Even when a do-gooder does something fantastic, his or her gift/s are flawed when given outside of the will of God. It is done out of the hubbub of their’ souls. Our motives are always confused without Him.

the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. (NIV)

The busyness of our minds and lives are contrary to the work we can do through Him. I have trouble quieting myself so I can enter into His presence where I can hear and be guided by Him. Can He guide
us in the moment, without a doubt. The hubbub of life can lead us with its demands and cause us to waste many years, if not our whole lives. Ever wonder how our celebrities, friends, relatives, leaders, and anybody else you can think of go to their deaths without a thought of God their Creator. They are in a precarious position. They are presenting themselves before Him without being adorned with the wedding clothes that He would have provided for them on earth
through Jesus, His Son. They won’t be let into the wedding feast as part of the bride of Christ. “The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life,” lied to them. They thought in and of themselves. That is the problem. We need to tie our thoughts to Him Who created and loves us.
Believers also need to get out of the confusion and turmoil that is hubbub. We can walk around in the busyness of our minds, listening to the noise around us and being directed by the confusion of both. A picture of this is being on a perpetual treadmill, thinking that if we keep going we will reach our destination, which is ludicrous! We see everyone around us on it, so it must be right. We don’t venture off the treadmill to follow Jesus’ Way. My believing friends follow Jesus moment by moment and your joy will be made full and the hubbub will leave
you.
