Is your Massage Therapist Certified or Properly Trained?
Is massage therapy for everyone? Not necessarily.

A lot of people wonder if Massage Therapy is for them. In most cases, I respond with Yes. I say in most cases because there can be certain health issues that would prevent a Massage Therapist from providing Therapy. That is why it is important to make sure your Massage Therapist is first and foremost certified from an accredited school or program. Second, make sure they are only practicing what they have been certified in and/or trained in. Massage Therapists should not be diagnosing any client or giving herbal remedies unless they are certified or trained as an herbalist. Keep in mind, reading several articles doesn't make anyone an expert. There can be contraindications with certain medicines or other herbs that react differently with every persons makeup. Check with your physician or chiropractor before taking anything.
Many times we are asked what we think may be wrong. In any case you should always check with your chiropractor or primary care physician about any health concerns you have.
Massage Therapy is just that – work on the muscles to increase flexibility, help aid in circulation, and reduce stress, just to mention a few.

Don't be afraid to ask us about ourselves, just as we ask you questions at your first visit. You are encouraged to ask us questions, too. That way you can receive the massage that best fits your needs.
I felt it important to share this in a blog because as a Certified Massage Therapist who has worked in various settings, I am reminded when a client comes to me and says they didn't have a "good experience" with the last massage.

Communication is important.
I hope this will help in building the relationship between a client and their Certified Massage Therapist.
