Shakopee Resident Owns Morning Line Favorite for $50,000 Frances Genter Stakes

Shakopee's Cam Casby is the owner and breeder of Keewatin Ice, the morning line favorite for Saturday's $50,000 Frances Genter Stakes.

A pair of $50,000 stakes races for Minnesota-bred 3-year-old thoroughbreds highlight Saturday’s racing program at Canterbury Park. Keewatin Ice, owned by Camelia Casby of Shakopee, MN, is the morning line favorite in the $50,000 Frances Genter Stakes, which has drawn six fillies.

Keewatin Ice has won two of six starts, including the $55,000 Northern Lights Debutante last summer. She finished third in a $100,000 stakes at Oaklawn Park in April. Keewatin Ice will be ridden by Juan Rivera and is trained by Bryan Porter.

The prohibitive favorite in the $50,000 Victor S. Myers Stakes, limited to 3-year-old colts and geldings, is the undefeated Heliskier, winner of three races including the 2011 Northern Lights Futurity. Perennial leading trainer Mac Robertson has this colt on the top of his game following a 10 and one-half length romp June 10. Derek Bell, aboard for all three wins, will again pilot the bay colt owned by Marlene Colvin of Ethan, SD.
