Scores of Southwest Residents Compete In Bike Race

The Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival is an annual 40-mile mountain bike bike race in Wisconsin.

Nearly 80 Southwest residents competed in one of the lagest mountain bike races in the country. Nearly 2,000 competed in the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival in Wisconsin.

One racer, Henry Kuhnen, posted the best overall showing among the Southwest competitors, coming in 30th. He also placed second in his age group with a time of 00:58:15.6 in the 16-mile "Short and Fat" race.

Racers competed in several different races: 1,850 ran a 40-mile off-road race, 882 ran a 16-mile race, and many others participated in an obstacle race and an orientiering race.
