Four Gates opened in 2011 and offers Kettlebell Training, Yoga, Qi Gong and Acupuncture. Husband and wife Christian Doten and Colleen LaSota opened this space after working together with clients and students during the last 5 years in New York City. Both grew up in south Minneapolis (attended Washburn High School), so it was an easy decision to move their family here for the new venture. They named Four Gates after a well known pair of acupuncture points used for freeing up the body’s flow of Qi-- the necessary state for health, which one may access through many different practices and therapies.
“We designed a space with a combination of services and practices that are all complimentary, so our students and clients can individualize a health based fitness and wellness program that works for their constitution, needs and lifestyle.” says owner and acupuncturist Colleen LaSota.

Four Gates’ training philosophy recognizes that a balanced energetic structure serves as the foundation for physical health. Therefore LaSota and Doten refer to Four Gates as a physical and energetic culture studio, where the need for both physical and energetic wellness is recognized.
Christian Doten, trainer and massage therapist explains: “I love to breakdown the energetic nature behind traditional physical culture such as kettlebell training. Any form of fitness can be a meditative and spiritual practice if lead as such, and this is what I offer my students.”
