Gophers Shoot Up New AP Poll: Highest Ranking Since 1962

The Minnesota Gophers jumped in front of Utah, Penn State, and Oklahoma in the latest AP rankings.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Gophers have rocketed up the AP Top 25 poll after the team's 31-26 win over Penn State Saturday. Penn State was previously ranked No. 5 in the AP poll, and No. 4 in the College Football Playoff committee's poll.

The Minnesota Gophers are now ranked No. 7 in the latest AP poll, released Sunday. They were No. 13 last week.

Minnesota's new ranking is its highest since 1962, when it was No. 5.

The Gophers next play Iowa on the road Saturday at 3 p.m. They play Northwestern on the road after that (Nov. 23), and finish off the regular season with the Axe game against Wisconsin back at home on Nov. 30.
