Minneapolis Southwest, Washburn Teams Inch Closer To Postseason

Varsity teams from Minneapolis Southwest and Washburn moved closer to the postseason as the spring sports season concluded its sixth week with the weather cooperating enough for both the Lakers and Millers to get in some games that were postponed from earlier in the season.
Minneapolis Boys Lacrosse: Warriors Even Record At 5-5
The Minneapolis all-city boys lacrosse team won at Rochester Mayo, 9-6, on May 14 to improve to 5-5 this season.

It was the third-straight win for the Warriors, who also defeated Cooper, 11-4, on May 10 and Holy Angels, 9-8, on May 12.
Teddy Boivin leads the team with 19 points, while goaltender Max Oberlander sports a .575 save percentage.

Minneapolis Girls Lacrosse: Warriors Enter This Week At 6-4
An 18-15 defeat of Farmington on May 12, combined with an 18-17 win over St. Louis Park boosted the Minneapolis girls lacrosse team to 6-4 on the season.
Martha Polacek's 39 points top the Warriors, with Hannah-Hilden Reid logging 33 points so far this spring.
Southwest Softball: Lakers Win City Conference Title
A 13-2 win at Minneapolis South on May 11 clinched the City championship for the Southwest softball team as the Lakers put together an 11-1 conference mark, one game better than Washburn—who topped Southwest, 13-8, on May 10.
The Lakers closed out last week with an 11-0 loss at Hopkins in a non-conference matchup. Individual statistics were not available.
Wasburn Baseball: Millers Win Three-Straight Games
The Washburn baseball team won three straight last week—including a 35-0 besting of Minneapolis Edison on May 10—to improve to 10-3 overall and 7-2 in the Minneapolis City Conference.
The Millers also defeated Simley, 13-1, on May 11 before topping St. Paul Johnson, 3-2, on May 12.
Brandon Arms leads Washburn offensively with a .667 batting average and two home runs, with Zach Austin's 22 runs batted in pacing the club; pitcher Trevor Stone has a 4-0 record, a 0.41 earned run average and 34 strikeouts.
Southwest Baseball: Lakers Score 19 Runs In Back-To-Back Games
The Southwest baseball team improved to 10-4 overall and 8-2 in the City with a 19-0 defeat of Minneapolis North on May 10 and a 19-1 besting of Minneapolis Edison on May 12. Individual statistics were not available.
Washburn Softball: Millers Wrap A 13-4 Regular Season
A 15-5 defeat of Patrick Henry on May 13 closed out the Washburn softball team's regular season with a 13-4 overall record, 10-2 in the City.
The Millers finished one game behind Southwest, whom Washburn defeated by a score of 13-8 on May 10. Individual results were not available.
Washburn Boys Tennis: Millers Split Dual Matches
The Minneapolis Washburn boys tennis team split a pair of dual matches last week , topping St. Anthony 5-2 on May 11 before losing 6-1 to Burnsville on May 13. Individual statistics were not available.
