Washburn Softball Season Comes To An End
Millers defeated, 11-1, by defending state champion New Life Academy in third round of Section 4A playoffs on Tuesday.
The 2011 season came to an end for the Minneapolis Washburn softball team as the Millers were felled by three-time defending state champion New Life Academy, 11-1, in the third round of the Section 4A playoffs on Tuesday in Woodbury.
Washburn scored its lone run of the game in the top of the second inning as catcher Izzy Brinker drove in Natalie Holdahl with a booming double off of Eagles ace pitcher Rebekah Schmidt.
However, it would be the last hit and run the Millers would tally as Schmidt shut down the Washburn offense for the remainder of the contest.
