BMW Stolen At Cub Foods Recovered In Woodbury: Police
The man who was found driving the stolen BMW now faces a max sentence of five years and up to a $10,000 fine.

WOODBURY, MN — Police say a 2000 BMW 323i stolen at a Cub Foods parking lot was recovered in Woodbury, and a St. Paul man now faces a felony count of receiving stolen property. On Jan. 15, 2018 at about 3:34 a.m., a Woodbury police officer ran a license plate check on a vehicle on Wooddale Drive.
The BMW was listed as being stolen from St. Paul on Jan. 14, 2018. The officer conducted a felony stop. The driver was identified as Alfredo Carrasco, 30.
A woman — identified as Diana Abrego, 36 — was also in the car. Police learned there was an active order for protection prohibiting Carrasco from having contact with Abrego. Both were arrested at the scene.

Neither Carrasco nor Abrego admitted to knowing the car was stolen, police said.
Abrego said that she had "borrowed" the car from someone on the east side of St. Paul, according to the criminal complaint.

The registered owner was contacted, and the owner told police that she had recently bought the car. On Jan. 14, the owner's boyfriend had taken the car to Cub Foods on Clarence Street in St. Paul.
Her boyfriend parked the vehicle in the fire lane and left the car running with the doors unlocked when he entered the store to shop. When he returned, the vehicle was gone, according to authorities.
The owner told police she did not know Carrasco or Abrego and had not given either of them consent to use her car.
Police say Carrasco has "a lengthy criminal history," including convictions for car theft and domestic abuse convictions. He faces a max sentence of five years and up to a $10,000 fine.
