Rep: Republican Budget To Give 'Significant Tax Relief To Woodbury Taxpayers'

House Republicans said their goal is to approach budgeting "The Minnesota Way."

Minnesota House Republicans announced their budget targets Monday, headlined by $1.35 billion in tax cuts and $450 million in funding for road and bridge infrastructure.

House Republicans stated their goal to approach budgeting “The Minnesota Way.”

“Our budget invests in our shared priorities including putting more money into the classroom and funding road and bridge improvements, while also providing significant tax relief to Woodbury taxpayers,” said Woodbury Republican Rep. Kelly Fenton.

“From limiting state government growth to working to lower the cost of health care, House Republicans have put forth a commonsense and comprehensive proposal that respects taxpayers and the people of our state.”

House Republicans are also proposing $1.1 billion in new funding for K-12 schools compared to the 2016-2017 biennium.

Fenton's office said the overall House Republican budget target limits government spending more than the two proposals put forward by the Governor and the Senate.

The budget resolution, containing the targets, will be adopted this week by the House Ways and Means Committee and will serve as the framework for Finance Committees as they construct their budgets, according to a news release.
