Son Tied Up, Tried To Kill Parents In Woodbury: Guilty Plea
A Maplewood man has entered a guilty plea to charges of attempted murder at his parents' house in Woodbury, authorities announced.

WOODBURY, MN — Washington County Attorney Pete Orput Monday announced that David Edward Williams, Jr., 22, of Maplewood entered a guilty plea to charges of attempted murder in the Jan. 21 incident at his parents’ house in Woodbury. Williams faces up to 20 years in prison upon his plea.
According to the criminal complaint filed in this case, Williams brought a bag full of weapons over to his parents’ home in Woodbury. He repeatedly beat his mother on the head with a hammer, tied her up and told her he was going to kill her.
Williams used his mother’s cell phone to lure his father to the house. Upon his father’s arrival, he pointed a shotgun at the father, threatened to kill both parents and placed his father in a chair next to his tied up mother. He continued to brandish a shotgun and a hatchet as his parents were immobilized, according to authorities.

In a statement, Orput said, “There could be only one reasonable outcome to this case, and that is an Attempted 1st Degree Murder conviction. We intend to ask the court to sentence to the statutory maximum given the heinous nature of this offense.”
