Two Police Officers Placed On Leave After Woodbury Shooting
The shooting happened after a Woodbury man called 911, telling dispatchers he "wanted to die" and saying "come kill me."
WOODBURY, MN — Two Woodbury police officers were placed on leave this week following a July 14 shooting that left one man hospitalized. The man, who was identified by his father as Oluwakorede Amusan, was shot after he placed a 911 call, telling dispatchers he "wants to die," and repeatedly saying "come kill me."
The officers placed on standard administrative leave are Officer Brian Cline, in law enforcement for 17 years, and Officer Brett Roddy, in law enforcement for 11 years. Amusan’s father, Kolawole Amusan, told KARE-TV that his son has a history of mental illness and has been suicidal in the past.
According to the City of Woodbury, Amusan called 911 around 11:30 a.m. July 14. Officers arrived to the 7000 block of Highpoint Road around 11:34 a.m., and located Amusan walking outside near the street. Amusan took a shooting stance toward officers, according to a release, when they fired at him.

Initially, Roddy fired beanbag rounds at Amusan. A short time later, Cline fired his gun, striking him. Both officers provided medical aid to Amusan, who was later transported to Regions Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is currently investigating the incident. When the investigation is complete, the BCA will present its findings to the Washington County Attorney’s Office for review.
