Woodbury Polar Plunge To Raise Money For Special Olympics MN

WOODBURY, MN — Hundreds of people from around the Woodbury area are set to make a splash Saturday to support Special Olympics in Minnesota.
More than 240 people are expected to jump into the frozen Carver Lake on Saturday for the 8th annual Woodbury Polar Plunge. The event raised more than $676,000 during its first seven years, with 194 people raising $54,231 in 2021, according to the official Polar Plunge website.

Organizers set a $75,000 fundraising goal for 2022. As of Tuesday afternoon, 243 plungers had raised $45,174.
The “Lake Elmo Bank Lake Leapers” team has brought in the most donations of any group so far for the Woodbury Polar Plunge, adding $6,569 to the fundraising total. The “Rookies” team follows close behind, having raised $6,461.

A team of Twin City Hardware employees has raised more than $2,000 for Special Olympics Minnesota, while Woodbury Public Safety leads the law-enforcement category with $1,374 in collected donations, as of Tuesday.

Polar plungers can park in the north lot at Woodbury High School or at 3rd Act Brewery and catch shuttles to Carver Lake Beach. 3rd Act Brewery has pledged to donate a portion of proceeds to Special Olympics Minnesota for each pint purchased.
