📰 News we're reading
• Two Coastal cities issue burn bans amid dry conditions (wxxv25.com subscription) — Bay St. Louis is under a strict burn ban right now, with all open burning, fire pits, and outdoor fireplaces prohibited as firefighters battle wildfires near Lake Drive, Blue Meadow Road, and Highway 603. Waveland is also under the ban, and all existing burn permits are suspended, though propane and gas grills are still allowed if residents use extreme caution to prevent new fires.

• One year in, the Mardi Gras rail line is bringing broader benefits to the Gulf Coast region (t4america.org) — Bay St. Louis is emerging as a standout stop on Amtrak's Mardi Gras line, drawing thousands of new visitors and filling once-vacant spaces in the downtown depot district with restaurants and galleries. Local leaders say greeting each train and helping passengers reach hotels is boosting business, raising the city's profile, and tying it more closely into Gulf Coast tourism and culture.
