• Hancock County moves forward with plans for new animal shelter (darkhorsepressnow.com) — Hancock County leaders in Kiln are moving ahead with plans to replace the overcrowded, aging county animal shelter, aiming for a safer, healthier facility for animals and staff. Engineers will study similar shelters, pick a new site on higher ground, and develop designs and costs by year's end, with construction targeted to begin as early as fall 2027.
