• Water contact advisory issued for bayou, part of Pascagoula River (wjtv.com) — If you spend time on the Pascagoula River, take note: state environmental officials have issued a water contact advisory for all of Comynie Bayou and part of the river near Pascagoula after 550,000 gallons of wastewater were released. Until further notice, residents are urged to avoid swimming, wading, or fishing in the affected stretch from Delmas Avenue south to the river’s mouth.
   

• Mississippi asks judge to dismiss Olivia Y. lawsuit after decades of federal monitoring of foster care (newsfromthestates.com) — Mississippi leaders are asking a federal judge to end long-running court oversight of the state’s foster care system, arguing recent reforms make the Olivia Y. lawsuit unnecessary. Pascagoula Sen. Brice Wiggins, who has pushed youth court and foster care changes, supports dismissing the case but says lawmakers must keep working on improvements regardless of the judge’s decision.
