• Cool Crest employees walk out after missing multiple paychecks (kshb.com) — Employees at Cool Crest Family Fun Center in Independence walked off the job after missing multiple paychecks, forcing a temporary closure that affects local workers and families who visit the venue. Staff say checks have been late much of the year, and some are considering legal action, while the Florida-based owner has not responded and no formal complaints have yet reached Missouri's labor department.

• Grand jury charges Sugar Creek man for killing business partner, hiding body in concrete (fox4kc.com) — A Jackson County grand jury has indicted Sugar Creek resident William Morrison on murder and armed criminal action charges in the death of Independence businessman Johnathon Brown, whose body was found in concrete at an Independence home. Independence police traced Brown's disappearance through surveillance and phone records, leading to the property search, discovery of his body, and allegations that Morrison tried to have evidence destroyed.
