📰 News we're reading

• Missouri trio sentenced for forced labor and immigration abuses (kttn.com) — Federal prosecutors detailed how an Indian national was forced to work and live in abusive conditions at homes in O'Fallon and elsewhere, leading to prison sentences for three St. Charles County residents. The case involved confiscated immigration documents, physical abuse, and a related VA benefits fraud scheme, underscoring serious labor‑trafficking concerns tied directly to properties in O'Fallon.

• Multi-family housing moratorium considered in Wentzville (midriversnewsmagazine.com) — A proposed six‑month pause on new apartment complexes in nearby Wentzville could influence how growth and housing demand spill over into O'Fallon, which has already approved nearly 3,000 units since 2007. Aldermen debated infrastructure strain, affordability, and whether senior housing should be exempt as they tied the moratorium discussion to an upcoming Comprehensive Plan update.
