Advocates warn Mark Twain deal will cause 'disaster,' First Alert 4 Investigates uncovers settlement violations (kmov.com) — Low-income residents of downtown St. Louis' former Mark Twain Hotel are scrambling to find new housing after a settlement between the city, Missouri's attorney general, and the owner requires everyone to move out. Advocates warn the closure of the city's last single-room-occupancy hotel could deepen homelessness, while officials insist relocation funds and caseworkers are in place and vow to enforce rent-forgiveness terms.
   

2. St. Louis community observes International Overdose Day with vigil and walk on Monday (ksdk.com) — St. Louis residents gathered downtown Monday to mark International Overdose Awareness Day with a vigil, survivor stories, and information on free local treatment and Narcan access. Organizers highlighted that overdose deaths are starting to trend down but stressed that addiction and PTSD remain serious challenges, urging anyone struggling in the city or county to seek out the many no-cost resources now available.
   

3. Area districts tighten rules on e-bikes and e-scooters as new school year begins (ksdk.com) — If your kids ride e-bikes or scooters to school in the St. Louis area, expect stricter rules this year, from walk-only zones in Rockwood and Wentzville to outright bans in Clayton, Ladue, Lindbergh, and Webster Groves. Brentwood has also tightened city laws, requiring licenses for riders on streets and barring e-bikes and scooters from major roads like Brentwood Boulevard and Manchester Road.
   

4. St. Louis families weigh in on final restructuring plan for public schools (ksdk.com) — St. Louis families are weighing in on a sweeping Saint Louis Public Schools restructuring that will close or repurpose 14 schools and shift McKinley High students to Central Visual and Performing Arts. District leaders say the plan aims for long-term financial stability, especially in transportation, and are asking parents to help shape the transition timeline and understand new busing eligibility rules.
   

5. Saint Louis Zoo history was made when pups were released to a wild wolf family (kmov.com) — St. Louis residents can take pride in a major conservation milestone at the Saint Louis Zoo, where three critically endangered American red wolf pups born at the zoo's wildlife reserve were successfully fostered into a wild pack in North Carolina.
