1. Raise taxes or cut cops? As deadline approaches Sam Page urges action (firstalert4.com) — St. Louis County leaders are warning that without a 2027 property tax increase, police staffing could be cut as the county faces a $61 million budget deficit and service reductions like Friday office closures. Residents are sharply divided over whether higher taxes or fewer officers are the better tradeoff, with the County Council facing a September 30 deadline to decide.

On Art Hill, every flag has a name and St. Louis won't let them be forgotten (firstalert4.com) — Thousands of flags on Art Hill in Forest Park honor lives lost on 9/11 and in the wars that followed, and organizers are asking St. Louis residents to help take them down Monday morning. 4. Even Undiagnosed Roundup Users Would Be Covered by the $7.25 Billion Lymphoma Settlement a Judge Weighs Monday (medicaldaily.com) — A Missouri judge in St. Louis will hold a key hearing Monday on whether to approve a $7.25 billion Roundup settlement that could affect many local residents who've used the weedkiller. The proposed deal would cover most U.S. users exposed before February 2026, including people not yet diagnosed with lymphoma, and outlines payout ranges, deadlines, and health symptoms to watch for while appeals could still delay any payments.
   

5. Pancreatic cancer breakthrough (stlamerican.com) — St. Louis' Siteman Cancer Center at Washington University helped test a new once-daily pill, Rasonque, that nearly doubled survival for patients with previously treated metastatic pancreatic cancer compared with chemotherapy.
