1. Members of VFW Post 919 shares plans for flags, memorial wall and new center (kttn.com) — Trenton's VFW Post 919 is pushing to finish its Bricks of Honor veterans memorial at the Grundy County Courthouse lawn and wrap up renovations of a new shared veterans center downtown. Residents can still buy engraved bricks by Oct. 17, visit Missouri Days and Hy-Vee fundraisers, and look forward to expanded local services, meeting space, and technology for veterans.
   

2. Missouri Day coloring contest celebrates America's 250th birthday (kttn.com) — Grundy County kids in preschool through fourth grade can enter a Missouri Day coloring contest tied to Trenton's 2026 festival, celebrating America's 250th birthday. Entries are due by 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at BTC Bank on Main Street in Trenton, with Sonic gift cards awarded to winners and prizes available during festival weekend.
   

3. Trenton City Council approves two bills amending city code (kmzu.com) — Trenton residents should know the City Council has updated fuel purchasing rules for the electric department, approved the 2026 demolition list, and moved meeting start times to 6:30 p.m. Council members also advanced sidewalk and sewer projects but rejected adding a wastewater employee. The next Trenton council meeting is set for Monday, Oct. 12, at 6:30 p.m.
   

4. Mary L. (Hedges) Haddox, age 97 (kttn.com) — Family and friends in Trenton can pay their respects to longtime former resident Mary Lee Haddox at open visitation on Thursday, Oct. 1, at Resthaven Mortuary and at graveside services Friday, Oct. 2, at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The 97-year-old Belton resident, remembered for her banking career and love of bowling, is survived by her husband, son, and grandchildren.
