Soil cleanup begins at Butte's Diggings East site (fairfieldsuntimes.com) — Soil cleanup has officially begun at Butte's Diggings East site, launching a four‑year project to remove contaminated soil and eventually turn the area into a new neighborhood park. Under tougher EPA lead standards, more than 7,000 additional Butte‑Silver Bow homes now fall within the cleanup zone, and local officials say they expect to hit this year's ambitious sampling and yard‑removal goals.
   

2. Pipestone Roars to Life as Community Comes Together for National Public Lands Day (blm.gov) — Butte-area residents and BLM staff recently teamed up at the Pipestone Off‑Highway Vehicle Area for National Public Lands Day, cleaning trails and learning safety and recovery skills. With leadership from the Butte Field Office, nearly 50 volunteers helped care for a favorite local riding spot, strengthening both trail conditions and the community's connection to nearby public lands.
   

3. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Delivers One Millionth Book in Montana to Child in Butte (billingsmix.com) — A Butte toddler just received Montana's one-millionth book from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, marking a big literacy milestone for local families. The First Lady of Montana is promoting the free program, which mails monthly books to kids under five who register, encouraging Butte parents to sign up and keep those real pages turning at home.
   

4. At the Courthouse - September 30, 2026 (gazetterecord.com) — A recent regional court report lists several misdemeanor and felony cases, including a marijuana possession charge for a defendant from Butte. The docket outlines guilty pleas, fines, jail time, probation terms, and outcomes of both criminal and civil cases, offering residents a snapshot of current legal activity in nearby courts.
