• Carroll College restores historic St. Charles Hall roof to preserve campus landmark (ktvh.com) — Carroll College is investing $1.3 million to restore the historic St. Charles Hall roof, using the same contractor that worked on Helena's Cathedral of St. Helena. The 116-year-old campus landmark remains open as crews replace tiles and add wind-resistant features, with work expected to finish by mid-October and minimal disruption for students this fall.
   

• Red states curb nuisance laws in response to climate lawsuits (eenews.net) — Montana lawmakers meeting in Helena recently joined other red states in narrowing public nuisance laws, a change critics say could weaken future climate and pollution lawsuits. The piece notes concern from the Montana Trial Lawyers Association that residents may lose an important legal tool to seek remedies for environmental or large-scale harms.
   

• Governor Gianforte Honors Central Montana Veterans (mt.gov) — From his office in Helena, Gov. Greg Gianforte honored twelve central Montana veterans with the 2025 Governor's Veteran Commendation for their military service and deep community involvement. Ceremonies in Cascade, Fergus, and Musselshell counties highlighted decades of volunteer work, while the governor also announced that nominations for the 2026 commendation will open in early September.
