2. Alleged international jewel thief appears in Missoula court (bozemandailychronicle.com) — Missoula residents are seeing an unusual international twist in local court as a Romanian woman accused of stealing a $28,000 diamond from Southgate Mall in 2022 now sits in Missoula County Jail on $25,000 bail. Prosecutors say she's tied to similar high-value jewelry thefts across Utah and abroad, and she's scheduled for arraignment here on September 21 while investigators still search for the missing diamond and her alleged accomplice.
   

3. Affordable housing options for Missoula residents (nbcmontana.com) — Rents in Missoula have nearly doubled since 2010, and the Missoula Housing Authority explains exactly how income-based housing works and who can qualify. Staff emphasize that eligibility depends strictly on household income relative to Missoula's area median income, and encourage residents to contact or visit their office or website for help navigating the seven-page application process.
   

4. Missoula opens new therapeutic shelter for at-risk youth (kpax.com) — A new therapeutic youth shelter, the Birnbaum Youth Home, is opening in Missoula to serve local children ages 10 to 17 who are in crisis and need safe, stable housing. Backed by $4 million in community support, the home offers emergency shelter, therapeutic services, and educational and health connections, with its first residents arriving September 15.
   

5. Billings Mustangs take game one of playoff series against Missoula 5-3 (swxlocalsports.com) — Missoula baseball fans saw the PaddleHeads drop Game 1 of their Pioneer League playoff series to the Billings Mustangs, 5–3, after falling behind 5–0. Late home runs pulled Missoula close, but the team now faces a must-win Game 2 on Friday to keep its postseason hopes alive.
