The shutdown, following the earlier closure of Missoula's Applebee's under the same ownership, raises questions about the Ryan Restaurant Corporation's plans as residents lose another familiar dining spot. 
• New mural underway in downtown Missoula (nbcmontana.com) — A new 750-square-foot mural is going up right now on a downtown Missoula building occupied by Leaf and Quiet, featuring Montana wildflowers and lesser-known pollinators like bats and spiders. It's the fourth year the Missoula Downtown Foundation has teamed with local artists, with another piece planned soon at the Montana Natural History Center.
• Choate's comments on Montana spark scheduling discussion before Nevada-MSU matchup (nbcmontana.com) — From Missoula, a brewing scheduling spat has emerged after Nevada coach Jeff Choate said he first hoped to host the Montana Grizzlies before booking Montana State for a Sept. 12 matchup.
