• Schrum named as new Fire Chief in Alliance (ruralradio.com) — Alliance has promoted longtime firefighter and assistant chief Brad Schrum to lead the City of Alliance Fire Department, capping more than 48 years of service locally. Schrum plans to maintain the department’s strong insurance rating, support its 47 volunteers, and will be formally recognized at the October 6 City Council meeting.
   

• Alliance Police Department announces major federal grant for tech (ruralradio.com) — Alliance’s police and fire departments, along with Box Butte County responders, are getting a major boost from a $600,000 federal grant to upgrade local emergency radio communications. The new repeater site will tie Alliance more reliably into Nebraska’s statewide public safety network, reducing dependence on cellular connections and improving redundancy when officers, firefighters, and paramedics respond to serious incidents.
