1. Sarpy County urges voters to register before Oct. 23 deadline; library event makes registration easy (3newsnow.com) — Bellevue residents are being urged to register to vote and consider early ballots ahead of the Oct. 23 deadline, with a new ballot drop box now installed at the local library. A recent library registration drive helped newcomers sign up easily, and Sarpy County's election commissioner says seven drop boxes and mail options aim to make voting more convenient and secure for neighbors.
   

2. City of Bellevue Intends to Issue Additional Bonds for Water Park (omaha.com) — Bellevue's City Council has approved issuing up to $50 million in additional bonds to complete the massive indoor water park at Highways 34 and 75, nearly doubling original cost estimates. City leaders expect occupation and sales taxes from the attraction to repay the debt, with the park projected to open in fall 2027 as one of the nation's largest.
   

3. Bellevue University Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month (bellevue.edu) — Bellevue residents are invited to join Bellevue University's Hispanic Heritage Month events, including a special dinner with live entertainment and a documentary screening at the campus library. Community members can buy dinner through Bruin Dining and attend the free film discussion, offering a nearby way to explore Hispanic culture, history, and education.
   

4. Dr. Joe Anson Wins Anne E. Nelson Professorship (bellevue.edu) — Bellevue residents should know that Bellevue University's Dr. Joe Anson has been awarded the Anne E. Nelson Professorship to support innovative work in teacher preparation. His projects will focus on literacy, professional development, and educational technology, strengthening local education programs that train future elementary and secondary teachers in Bellevue and beyond.
   

5. Game and Parks releasing rainbow trout this fall in local ponds, lakes (kgfw.com) — Bellevue anglers can look forward to 2,000 rainbow trout being stocked this fall at Kramer Lake in American Heroes Park, part of a statewide effort to boost urban fishing. Nebraska Game and Parks is releasing 12-inch trout at community lakes on scheduled weeks in October, encouraging residents to enjoy cooler weather, try fishing, and review permits and tips online.
